In the ongoing cry for globalisation, massive and accelerated changes have taken place. Therefore geographical distances became closer, communication became easier, and people became more aware of the necessity to appreciate other cultures. Since the Sultanate of Oman enjoys a rich heritage and a deep-rooted literature I thought it would be interesting to make it accessible to non-Arabic readers, whether they are residents or tourists, in order to promote an understanding of the country, its inhabitants and their culture.

This step comes as an initiative to construct a dialogue with such groups of people and exchange views on how can we best introduce our literature and culture to the outside world. I also hope that the concerned authority will take necessary steps to translate the creative works of famous Omani scholars and laureates and make them available to interested readers.
